Ahí estoy en una de mis exhibiciones y llega una clienta conocida en compañía de su mamá. Después de apreciar mis trabajos, su mamá me dice: "Ojalá tuviera yo su talento! Cuando estaba en la escuela no era buena en la clases de expresión artística/manual. Yo no tengo ningún don...". Y así como a la mamá de mi clienta, escucho a muchas personas decir que no tienen dones o talentos especiales. Inmediatamente le contesté, igual que digo a cuantos hacen mención de su carencia de talentos: "Señora, estoy segura que Usted tiene un don muy distinto al mío. Todos tenemos una misión diferente en la vida y, por lo tanto, cualidades diferentes..."
Seguimos conversando mi clienta y yo, mientras su mamá meditaba sobre nuestra reciente conversación. Después de un rato, la señora se acerca: "Oiga... Usted no ha ayudado a traer bebés al mundo, verdad? Pues yo sí. Soy partera retirada y he traído a más de 80 niños al mundo". Sonreí y le confesé a ella, así como te lo confieso a tí, querido lector: "Señora, me dan ganas de desmayarme con sólo ver la sangre!" y añadí: "Lo que Usted hace es ayudar a traer almas al mundo. Es algo hermoso... ¡Es un milagro!".
¿Cuántas veces no hemos deseado tener algún talento o pensamos que no tenemos nada que ofrecer, que no tenemos cualidades especiales? Creo que más bien, no nos tomamos el tiempo de analizar qué es eso que hacemos mejor que los demás o (más importante) que nos sentimos felices de realizar. Seguir nuestro corazón hacia aquéllas metas personales, hacia nuestros sueños, mediante el uso de nuestros "dones" es lo que hace que la vida fluya y tenga sentido.
Hoy, tómate unos minutos y medita sobre la vida que llevas, sobre lo que quieres hacer y todas esas cosas que te hacen tan especial y único... Ponlas en práctica! Hay un camino divino que espera que aquéllos que tienen miedos (pero siguen su corazón y los superan) lo recorran. No es fácil, pero tampoco lo es ayudar a dar a luz, ni buscar inspiración diaria para crear una pieza única! La próxima vez que visites mi stand en algún evento (o que me veas), reemplaza la frase: "Tú tienes un don y yo no" por: "Leilani, aquí tengo una lista de todos los dones y talentos que me hacen único(a) y especial y voy a darles uso!".

There I am in one of my exhibits and a known customer arrives in company of her mom. After looking at my works of art, her mom says: "I wish I had your gift! When I was in school, I wasn't good in my artistic classes. I have no talents..." And, like my customer's mom, I hear a lot of people saying that they have no talents or special gifts. I answered inmediately, as well as I answer to anyone who mentions their lack of talents: "I'm sure, you have a very different gift than mine. We all have a different mission in life and, therefore, different qualities..."
My customer and I kept talking while her mom meditated on our recent conversation. After a while, she came close: "Hey... Have you ever helped anyone bring babies to the world? Well, I have. I'm a retired midwife and I have brought more than 80 children to the world". I smiled and confessed: "I feel like fainting by just seeing blood!" and added: "What you do is helping to bring souls to the world. It's something beautiful... It's a miracle!".
How many times have we wished to have some talent or we think we don't have anything to offer, that we have no special qualities? Perhaps we don't take the time to analize what is that we do better than everyone else or (even more important) that we feel happy doing. Following our hearts towards those personal goals, towards our dreams, using our "gifts" is what makes life flow and to make sense.
Take some minutes today and meditate about the life you're living, what you want to do and all those things that make you special and unique... Practice them! There's a divine road waiting for those who feel fear (but follow their hearts and overcome them) to walk it. It's not easy, as well as helping to give birth or searching for daily inspiration to create a unique piece! Next time you visit my stand at an event (or next time you see me), replace the phrase: "You have a gift and I don't" for: "Leilani, here's a list of all the gifts and talents which make me unique and special and I'm going to use them!".
